Here are some major types of cheating and plagiarizing.

 

Types of cheating: 

1. Cheating on in-class exams

2. Cheating on take-home exams

 

 

Types of Plagiarism:

 

 

1. Copying others’ works word for word without the necessary citations.

2. Copying others’ works with slightly change when there are no necessary citations. 

3. Giving paraphrase of others ideas or opinion without necessary citations.

 

 

 

 

 

Attendance policy:

Most of the Rider professors take attendance very seriously. Therefore, read this part of the syllabus carefully, otherwise your grade may get deducted.

Participation:

During the class, what the professors value most is your participation. Some professors make it clear in the syllabus; others will mention it during the class. Professors can tell from your class participation that whether or not you have well prepared before attend the class. Also, he may identify your interest and your passion may motivate the Prof in turn to some new knowledge area. They hope that students can enjoy the class and share give different ideas in class.

Ask questions:

During the class, if you do have doubts of anything, please feel free to ask questions. It is a good way of effective communication, or otherwise, the Prof may even don’t have the opportunity to help you with your doubt. Most of the professors would love to answer student’s questions.

Honesty:

When you write paper or doing case study, copy directly from the book or other sources is totally not allowed, which is normally considered as academic dishonesty. The University values academic honesty a lot. If you copy directly from the resources, you may even fail that course.
